Emergency Dental Care

What We Treat

We handle a wide range of urgent situations including severe or persistent toothaches, broken, cracked, or chipped teeth, a tooth that's been knocked out, lost or damaged fillings, crowns, or bridges, dental abscess or infection with swelling, bleeding that won't stop after an injury, and jaw pain or trauma.

If you're not sure whether your situation counts as an emergency, call us. We'd rather see you and find out everything is fine than have you wait and let something get worse.

What to Do Before You Get Here

Knocked-out tooth: Find the tooth, hold it by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently, and try to place it back in the socket. If you can't, keep it moist in milk or saliva and get to us as fast as possible. Reimplantation works best within 30 minutes.

Broken or chipped tooth: Rinse with warm water, apply a cold compress to reduce swelling, and save any pieces if you can.

Severe pain or swelling: Take over-the-counter ibuprofen, apply a cold compress, and call us immediately.

Lost filling or crown: If you have the crown, try placing it back on with a dab of toothpaste or denture adhesive as a temporary hold. Avoid chewing on that side until we see you.

While waiting to see a dentist, you may be in considerable pain. Pain medications can help decrease the pain you experience. Additionally, a cold compress, ice pack, or cool dishcloth can reduce swelling and decrease pain. In cases where a tooth's nerves are exposed due to a crack in the enamel or a broken tooth, many pharmacies sell dental cement that can temporarily cover the exposed nerves.
