Veneers

Veneers are thin, custom-made porcelain shells that bond to the front of your teeth. They correct chips, cracks, deep stains, gaps, and minor misalignment in as few as two visits. Dr. Lee uses high-quality porcelain that matches the color, texture, and translucency of your natural teeth.

What Veneers Can Fix

Veneers work well for teeth that are chipped or worn down, permanently stained beyond what whitening can address, slightly crooked or uneven without needing braces, gapped or spaced unevenly, or undersized compared to surrounding teeth. Because they cover the entire front surface, veneers can address several issues at once. Many patients choose them as part of a broader smile makeover.

The Process

Getting veneers takes two appointments. At the first visit, Dr. Lee removes a thin layer of enamel (about half a millimeter) to create space for the veneers. He takes impressions and helps you choose the right shade. You'll wear temporary veneers while your permanent set is being made.

At the second visit, the temporaries come off and the custom veneers are bonded to your teeth with a strong adhesive. Dr. Lee adjusts the fit and bite, then polishes everything smooth. The whole process takes about two to three weeks from start to finish, and results typically last 10 to 15 years with normal care.

How Veneers Compare to Other Options

Veneers aren't the right fit for every situation. Here's how they stack up against other common restorations:

Veneers vs. Crowns: A veneer covers only the front surface of the tooth and is primarily cosmetic. A crown wraps the entire tooth and is used when there's significant damage or decay that needs structural support. If the tooth is healthy but you don't like how it looks, veneers are usually the better choice.

Veneers vs. Bonding: Both fix chips and minor imperfections, but veneers are more durable and stain-resistant. Bonding is quicker and less expensive, which makes it a good option for small fixes. Veneers are the stronger long-term investment for more visible teeth.

Veneers vs. Invisalign: If your main concern is crooked or misaligned teeth, Invisalign moves your actual teeth into better position. Veneers create the appearance of straighter teeth without moving anything. Some patients use both, whitening and finishing with veneers after alignment is complete.

Dr. Lee can help you figure out which option makes the most sense for your goals during a consultation.

They're irreversible because a thin layer of enamel is removed during prep, but the veneers themselves last 10 to 15 years on average before needing replacement. Many patients get longer than that with good hygiene and regular checkups.

Yes. Modern porcelain veneers are designed to mimic the way natural teeth reflect light. Dr. Lee works with you to pick a shade that fits your face and skin tone. The goal is always a natural improvement, not an obvious cosmetic look.

Yes. Porcelain veneers are strong enough for everyday eating. Just avoid biting into very hard things like ice or hard candy, and don't use your teeth to open packaging. Same advice applies to natural teeth.
